Heather Douglas is currently working on her PhD in Math Cognition at Carleton University. As a curious person, Heather has ventured into many areas but all have a common theme – learning and teaching. From teaching auto-body repair, casting bones, nature studies, to time management (oh dear) and grade-school math – Heather is always ready to explore new ideas and to make learning enjoyable. During her time as an elementary school teacher, Heather wondered why the mechanisms and strategies for reading & writing were so well understood while math learning was a bit of a “mystery”. This led her to Carleton University to complete a master’s degree in cognitive science in 2015. Heather has continued her studies and is excited to share her love of math with any and all.
